Brief/Synopsis/Pitch

For my music video, I have decided to do a band cover of ‘Paint it black’ by The Rolling Stones. This music video is going to be a mixture of performance and narrative. I have chosen this structure because my musical influences choose this style of music video and I thought it would be best to do a performance and narrative as well so I can take influence from my favourite artists. The song ‘Paint it black’ doesn’t have a corresponding theme and an exact meaning however it does have a few interpretations. I interpret this song as being about depression and sadness as the idea of something turning black represents loneliness and isolation.

The narrative is based around the theme of loneliness. For this I have decided that the narrative will be about a girl who will be walking through the woods all alone. During this time, she will be reflecting her past thoughts and feelings which again will be based on isolation. The narrative will be broken up as it will switch between the band and the narrative. The reason for choosing a song about depression and sadness is because I feel it will make my music more powerful and will have more emotion to the video. I have taken lighting and setting into consideration to make the band shots fit in with the loneliness and isolation theme.
