SWOT Evaluation

Strengths-
For my strengths, I had an idea of the style of film I wanted to create which meant I looked at similar films for inspiration. The 'woodland' location I chose was inspired by: The Blair Witch project. I also used a lot of justification when I was explaining the processes required when making a film. I did a lot of practice analysis on film openings which helped me to become knowledgeable on how to break down an opening an analyse film techniques such as: Camera shots, Camera angles, Mise-en-scene and Editing. This made it easier when it came to making my own film analysis as I could use inspiration for other film openings. By watching a mixture of good and not so good openings, it gave me a clear idea on certain shots or storylines to avoid. In by blog, I included posts such as: The role of the BBFC, Marketing, editing diary and storyboarding. Researching these areas made me very knowledgeable about the film industry and displayed a clear understanding of the film industry.

Weaknesses
I did have a lot of weaknesses in terms of my blog and my film opening. In my blog I did have a lack of different media sources. Most of my posts were word-document based or PowerPoint based. For example I didn't have any interviews or video feedback on my finished opening. This meant I lost points for not being 'media rich'. I also didn't have a proper schedule plan for the film opening. Changes in personal plans meant that some of the filming was done on a later date than intended. Not having a clear schedule meant I didn't plan my time effectively which meant that certain posts could not be completed when I planned as other tasks needed to be completed first. Not sticking to a schedule meant I faced added pressure as certain tasks had lest time to be completed than first anticipated.

Opportunities-
I originally chose a woods in Hockley to do my filming however after visiting Grove woods in Rayleigh, I found that the lighting was better which meant that the light levels would be higher. There is also a road leading into the woods, this was a better opportunity as it meant I had better access to the woods. The load was also lit up which meant that in the evening, the woods would not be completely pitch black which meant I had more time to film.

Threats-
When making my film, I wanted to make sure my film wasn't too similar to The Blair Witch project as the location and storyline was similar. Due to filming in a woods in the evening, the light levels varied each day. Some scheduled film days had to be put back as the light levels were too dark. I wanted to make sure that the light levels were consistent throughout the opening. This was the biggest threat as my plans had to be adjusted around my opening. The lack of equipment also proved a threat. Access to cameras and editing software was a threat as at the time of being set the project, I didn't have access to any. This at first posed a threat as I was concerned I couldn't put in special effects.
